BACK TO BASIC BED TIME!

Hi good morning welcome to classy classics by Kandis. I am a stay at home mom of 4 children ages 12 down to the age of two!

If this is the first time you’ve ever read one of my blogs hi, I am a basic, planner loving, routine needed mother. I love a good routine, great coffee and sitting down playing with planner trying to see if I can get my ducks in a row! Lol.

With school back in I needed to really get back into our night routine. This is actually an important factor I have been learning as I was trying to implement a nice bedtime routine for when my older kids went back to school and my daughter was still sleeping in until why I don’t even know when.

Do you have a night routine?

I try to be flexible with mine but I try to be consistent at the same time it’s a hard balance for me but I am trying.

I thought what better time then to sit down and write out a new routine or a evening routine then here then for a blog talk.

I found that summer was a different summer this year I’m not sure quite what it was or maybe it is just that I was busy and my brain had to be a little more flexible this year then some years but it definitely seemed to be a quick, dry go get it year.

My bedtime routine or my evening routine goes from the hours of somewhere between about 7 and 9 p.m. I have been trying to get the younger kids to bed a little earlier than 9:00 but they sure fight me on it they’ve always kind of gone to bed at 9 but, that’s just a little late for mommy sometimes. But, it might have to stay close to 9 depending on how smooth everything ends up going.

How to start!

The first thing I like to do when choosing a new routine is to figure out the top priorities of that time!

The top things that I know I had to have in the evening routine is:

  • Table cleared
  • dishes done and dishwasher started
  • kids cleaning or zone cleaning chores
  • snack
  • Teeth
  • Pajamas
  • bed time story

I will always but in even the most basic tasks as they do need to be done and they do take time!

This is the ideas that I had included in the 2 hours that is set out for the “evening routine”.

How do you set out a new routine?

This is something I will set out as a sample hourly set up, as the nights go on it will be easier to see what works when and, what might need to be moved or swapped with something else!

The nice thing about a routine is that you set it! You create it! You can change it to however works beat for your family!

The biggest mistake when trying to create a routine is to try to just do someone else’s. Now, it’s awesome to use the idea or outline but, don’t be scared to change it! It’s your routine make it yours! Not everybody’s lifestyle and hours are the same!

Find what outline works best for you and go from there!

Does a hourly work?

Maybe try a block system!

Maybe a schedule vs a routine!

The best way to start is to find the top 3-5 things that are top priority for you and build from there!

It’s just paper it’s all able to be edited or revamped!

I know that my routines will need to be worked on through the winter! There is definitely different chores as the seasons change!

I look forward to the new routines coming in with the new school year coming in!

If you would like to join me in the following weeks with the routines let me know! Like the blog, leave a comment, or just join the fun!

I hope this has encouraged you to try a new routine! I find it makes my days go a little smoother if I can get into a good realistic routine!

Back To School Prep!

Hi good morning, happy Monday! How is your weekend? How is your week?

Can you believe not in about a week the kids are going back to school! In Saskatchewan in my division like the kids go back to school September 2nd. My toddler is starting play school but, he doesn’t start until the beginning of October.

When does school start where you are?

I have 4 kids, 12, 10, 4 and 2! It gets to be a bit full in the mornings here ok, let’s be honest it’s bananas here ALL THE TIME! lol!

I feel there is a couple things that definitely make back to school prepping easier, so why not get my butt in gear and get going on all the fun of back to school!

This year my oldest is going into grade 7, it is exciting for her as in our school we don’t have a different school for “Junior High” there is a different hallway, a different side of the school for these grades.

There was definitely a little bit of a difference this year in school supplies as one kid is still classed as elementary he is in grade 6 this year and then of course my daughter is going into junior high.

I find some of these back to school supplies to be quite a lengthy list, which is fine I get it you need stuff for school I remember those days of needing all sorts of stuff also trying to throw some really cool stuff into the cart. So, when my kids are wanting to get some really funky stuff depending on what it is we definitely try to compromise.

This year when we started thinking about back to school I asked the kids if we could reuse some stuff. Then the kids were going to start downstairs.

Now, they started downstairs because I ended up the de-clutter a bunch of my living room stuff and all of my back to school supplies went downstairs into a dresser.

This is where my children started we had their list and I shood them down stairs and just told them where to go look and what to look for.

I was thrilled when they agreed to start in our overflow area if you will because, my one kid needed seven binders let alone everything else. So, I will tell you we saved a big chunk of money just by sorting through what we could down stairs.

Those duatangs and notebooks that they need like how many of, I just get my kids, too rip off the front pages and use one of those because they never use a full one anyways.

This is how I try to cut is much pennies out of the list I could for at least the start of the year.

Do you have left over school supplies send that with the kids before you go and buy stuff?

Now I have stuff up here in the arts and craft section that is not the same as what I am passing off as my back-to-school section. Back-to-school time is also great time to stock up on arts and crafts supplies, maybe stuff for Christmas you can always throw a pack of crayons it was stocking or wrap it up with a colouring book and boom you have a great present for a little kid.

When it came to school clothes this year I had the kids come in and pick out their clothes but, they also were required to take the time to try them on!

My son is definitely needed more than my daughter for school clothes. It is hard because we don’t have much kid clothes stores around me anymore. I was ordering a lot of their clothes long time for that matter. However, they were in that size that I would buy them something and they would fit fine for by Christmas if it’s too small. But, with the prices of everything I was not about to do that this round. I also find that there is more options for girls than boys.

We got all the clothes almost part found fitted, washed and ready to go for school. My son was mad at me because I wouldn’t let him wear his new clothes before school lol. At least he likes them right!

School is back in here in about a week. I am really torn about when to start having the kids get up and get in the habit of their morning routines.

The next thing that I think I’m going to start getting prepped for is a school routine.

When do you start getting your kids back into the school routine swing?

My kids are on a bus, and so we really only have so much wiggle room before they actually have to just be ready to go versus when we lived in town it didn’t really matter it took him five minutes to get to school and that was all there was.

So, now they have to be able to get up make their beds, get ready and have some breakfast too fill up their tummy for the bus ride to school.

With the school supplies bought, sorted and labeled this is definitely a the starting point that I wanted to be at war was hoping to be at for the start of the week. I told my kids they would be getting up early in earlier everyday to start getting ready for school. They don’t have to do it right away or everyday but they will be getting up and everyday a little earlier and everyday that we do something else and preparation of what they would be for when they do for school.

This is the start to my back-to-school prep!

If you want to join in the back to school routine that I will be starting if you want to see and read a little bit about that let me know I would love to do that blog.

It would be a nice way to start setting up all of the routines that’ll need to be fixed up for winter.

Morning Again…Let’s Get Ready???

Good morning and welcome to Classy Classic’s By Kandis! I am I stay at home mom of 4 kids, two of them are in school, one is going to be starting play school in the fall, and one is still at home for a couple years.

With summer holidays slowly coming to an end already… I thought I’d better start setting my alarm and getting my morning routine going again. I always have a morning routine but I have been finding myself being a little more cranky would not getting up before the kids and getting my time in first.

I thought what a better blog post then a morning routine when I’m trying to get back into my morning routine. Now a morning routine doesn’t have to be a big thing, you don’t need to get up early or try to before the kids get up! However, I do! lol! I truly love morning coffee before the storm!

My morning routines I try to keep very basic, I try to keep it as me relaxed, prepping for the day as I can. I find I get a lot more antsy and my patience is not real great if I don’t take trying to wake up and start my own day before littles because, they’re the ones that need the most attention in the morning right, before they get up and start LOL!

A habit that I had started and am trying to keep every morning is to wash up and get myself ready-ish for the day! I try to have a coffee, get dressed and wash up!

With my morning routine I have a wonderful line from Monat! These products are amazing and with 3 kinds of skin care lines there is one for everyone! I use “BE BALANCED” which is targeted for normal and combined skin! There is also a line for oily and sensitive skin! There is hair, and skin care, junior line and a new men’s line!

I will leave a link for any monat products, there is something for all hair hair and skin types and this is a line that is used by all ages in my house lol.

Let’s talk getting ready and what I use and love in the morning! 🌄

Let’s start with coffee in the morning I guess! Where else does one start?

I had a tim Horton coffee pot it’s a Bunn type!?!? lol What I can tell you is that I pour water in and with the hot water tank on the back always ready it takes a LOT less time and will make my pot of coffee in roughly 5 minutes! We have been using tim hortons coffee grounds for a couple years and that is now my go to home coffee!

I then try to wash up and brush my teeth and possibly brush my hair!

The products that I use to wash up and hopefully wake up in the morning are:

be balanced face wash

normal and combined skin for skin that likes balanced moisture and oil for a large open pores and age control

be balanced lightweight moisturizer

normal combined skin for skin that lacks balanced hydration for loss of radiance, firmness and elasticity helps with softness and smoothness I use this one in the morning I have a different one that I use for bedtime. this can be used night and day tho.

skin revitalizing essence

A lightweight miracle water that quickly hydrates and replenishes, giving a smoother, brighter, more radiant complexion to all skin types

C. radiance illuminating serum

Helping with dull complexion environmentally damaged skin uneven skin tone including dark spots, blemishes and hyperpigmentation fine lines and wrinkles and loss of elasticity and texture

eye smooth

helps fine lines and wrinkles around eyes helps with dark circles, puffiness, under eye bags and crowd feet around the eye also helps with dryness! I use this morning and night.

This is how I get ready for the morning or the most mornings! I then have my chores with my morning routine. I will get dressed, make my bed, work in my planner, get breakfast ready for whatever kids are up then…. it is still summer break!

This is part of my me time for in the mornings! There is a new season coming with school coming back in, and the kids getting bigger!

I had thought I better get going on the basics of the mornings, my kids are back in school in less then 3 weeks!

I am hoping to get school supplies done and some school cupboards organized and cleaned!

What are you doing to prepare for back to school?

Do you prep or go with it?

I hope you liked this blog on my me time getting ready to tackle a day with the kids!

There will be links to monat and also to my other social media pages!

Head over and come say hi!

A new chapter is starting again, I had bounced back and forth on what to do with the page! I then remembered why I started and love the blog!

Make sure you follow along to see all the fun we are going to have this coming winter!

Until next week have a great day, a wonderful weekend and a productive week!

MONEY SAVING SUMMER TIPS!

Good morning!

Happy Monday! How was your week?

I have had a busy week! Trying to stay motivated to get stuff done! Trying to stay connected online with chores and summer play between, time get tight!

Summer time tends to fly by in an experience blurr! With having 4 kid’s I have learned that with the toys, snacks, food, entertainment and late nights they can NEED A LOT! Lol.

There is a couple tips and tricks I have learned and picked up the along to save some money for a less expensive summer!

These money savers are my most go to for summer savings!

Looking for a way to save some extra money this summer, here are 10 of my favorite summer savings hacks!

Designated Days For Take Out Or Fun Food Day!

When it comes to summer it’s all about BBQs, take out, lake days and quick store food. This can all really add up quickly. If this is what I am doing everyday or multiple times it can get hard to not overspend, slurg and end up wasting a lot of food I find in the end. One of my best tips for this is to have a designated day once a week or every once a month to go out and do something for supper or a fancier meal. I good themed lunch 9r supper can be just as fun if not funner then take out or a burger from a stand!

Dollar Tree Finds

When it comes to you keeping kids and even the adults entertained it can sure get tricky and it can all add up really fast. I final lot of things are the same quality sometimes even the same brands at the Dollar Tree vs a bigger retail store. With this my kids break toys so fast, I just watch this money go into the garbage bag. So with this I I have a lot of my stuff if not most of my stuff for summer entertainment from the Dollar Tree or dollar stores in general. There is something that I have learnt is a better deal that are quality products at say Walmart been at the dollar store. If you want a blog done about Dollar Tree vs Walmart products leave a comment down below I think it would be really fun!

Prep The Snacks and Meals

I find that because my children feel that they need to eat every 20 minutes it can be crazy to try to keep them content and full. If I take the time to prep snack foods and parts of meals even one day a week to do me for the week, it can make a huge difference. If I take this time to prep snacks for a road trip vs dealing with all of the take out or gas station food this also makes a huge difference.

Make A Plan Ahead Bag

This one is easy but very helpful tip. With having pre-pack bag this comes in handy in all situations. I like to keep an extra change of clothes, extra water and of course snacks. Also diapers with wipes maybe a couple toys and I usually try to carry a little bit of cash around with me.

Seek And Find Free Or Low Cost Activities!

It can be hard to not go to all the water parks or theme parks there’s whatever the summer is jiving. However, there is tons of free if not really small fee activities throughout the summer oh, you just sometimes have to really look for it. There is parks to play at, if you can find a small Lake that you don’t have to pay to get into or at least most lakes their daily fee is not much this is something that you can do maybe once a week and if you can’t find one that doesn’t have a fee.

Reusable Contains

This is one of the best things that I can usually use in the summer. The snack bags just end up being everywhere, and it can be hard to get them open and close or specially if you have sticky you with whatever gross hands. These you can usually get for a good deal at Walmart or when in doubt head up on your Dollar Trees. This way if they get or when they get lost or broke it’s not a biggie it was really a dollar or less.

Drink That water

Water, water, water! It’s really important that we keep up on your water as much as I just want to drink coffee all day, drinks in that expensive you can hit up the Bulk Barn to get some out of juice at a fairly good deal, against stuff like this is also sold at a dollar store up to you whether you feel comfortable with stuff like that from the dollar store but, water as long as you’re not buying bottled by bottle is a cheaper drink.

If It’s In A Wrapper It’s Not For Home

This is one that like kids don’t really care for but this rule however it does Save-A-Lot. Those special D snacks those really yummy goodies, the granola bars, the gushers, fruit snacks these are all fairly pricey when you break them down. Simple rule that we follow is that it’s in a wrapper then those expensive specialty candies it’s not to be eating at the house, these are for when we’re in the car and offer fun days. When you’re at home you can go and make something much easier and save those for on the road.

Everyone Gets Their Own

This one is an easy way to prep everything and a simpler way to stop song fighting. Everybody gets the same thing, everybody gets a drink the same amount of snacks depending on kid size lol, and it all goes into a backpack or usually a lunch kit. You want a smarf down all of your snacks in 20 minutes then you’re not going to have it, they want to save their snacks for the whole trip then you have them. But everybody has the same variety usually.

Routines And Pre-Plan

I will always have routines in place! If you have been following me for any length of time you have probably realized by now I enjoy being as organized as a mother of four can be. With this I like having routines and pre-planned game plans because it can really help stop all day boredom. I have a morning and an evening routine I try to stick with and I like to know about any bigger plans so I can have certain stuff packed or prepped ready to go also saving a ton of money when you head out somewhere if you are already prepped with some clothes, snacks, maybe toys Etc.

These are some of my go-to favourite summer money saving tips. I have used these for years but most of them I will always use now some of them I don’t use as strong or all the time depending on what else is happening in life at that time.

If you enjoyed this blog go ahead and like it leave a comment I would love to do more blogs like this I like talking about budgeting and different ways to save a couple bucks here and there.

Make sure you also follow me on my social media Pages there’s Instagram and Facebook. I tend to do more on Facebook than Instagram but again depends on what’s happening in life oh, I also tried to upload a new blog every Monday.

I will leave the links down below or my other pages there’s just a little more personal day today stop happening over there. Hope to see you over there make sure you stop to say hi.

Until next week have a wonderful day, a great weekend and a productive week.

Bye for now.
