LETS ORGANIZE TIME!
Hi, good morning, welcome back to Classy Classics By Kandis!
How was your week ? I hope you had a wonderful week did you start any seeds yet? That was last week’s blog oh, it was fun all of my seeds that I started came up oh, so that’s my good, I am actually getting ready to transplant those ones and start some more!
Did you read last week’s blog about starting seeds I’ll leave that link down below!
With spring coming and in the air there’s also a whole another thing to start taking care of along with everything that is already needs to be taken care of in the house!
So I thought this week I would try to organize my time, spring is coming and the time spent in the house is going to start coming less and less available! I realize that spring time frames are not the same as that what they were, and they never will stay the same season-to-season especially with having a little kids like what I do!
But, spring is a month away the seeds are sprouted and I am getting all of my cleaning done so I can get outside and start playing in the garden!
So, when it comes to you trying I want to know do you think you have too much time or not enough time? I asked this question is everybody’s going to laugh and probably obviously say I don’t have enough time!
But is that really what it is?
So, if you’re saying I don’t have enough time I’m going to schedule out different blocks! And if I say that I have too much time then I’m going to schedule of different blocks!
No matter what you’re going to look at your day as a block system! One of the best ways that I found and there are so many ways to manage your time but, the best way that I have found is from Jordan page! I have done other blogs on time management and block systems I will leave them link below!
I find that it really helps just sitting down and looking at your day and seeing where your time is! So I am going to show you what I mean!
I use a planner and used to use all sorts of stuff and I might go back into using a block system again but for right now my planner is doing great! We’re having two little kids at home into big kids at school my day is going to look different than anybody, please remember everybody schedule is going to look different than everybody else’s! I did not say this enough when I talk about managing your time!
In my planner I will typically pick a couple tasks to do a day, if only happens that I get it was done through the entire week that’s what happens, but no matter what your day will be a full day! Doesn’t matter if you were in school, at work, or if you work at home, your day is still a full day!
I find it the easiest to break my day into boxes to find out where everything sits!
My block system when I created, I always have to kind of go back through and re vamp it as kids get older routines change, school comes into play all of this everything changes!
My system is from 6 a.m.-9 a.m. Then 9 a.m -12 p.m there is my first 2 morning boxes! Then I break the next hours up into blocks! 12 p.m- 3 p.m See the idea, with my schedule and the kids schedule it was easiest from me to do a box system breaking it every 3 hours! This may not be your system you could maybe do just morning afternoon and evening, maybe you go hour by hour! The biggest thing is to sit down and break your day up into blocks, this way you can see where you are at the busiest and where you are the freeist!
You can then with your block system then start filling in your times! This is routine and non wiggle room! Kids up, school, morning routine, kids home, bed time ECT.
There you have it!
This is one the best, fastest and most productive way to sketch out your time! This system allows you to keep anytime aside but, also to be able to put any time frames into there are not able,to be moved around or compromised!
I have a couple examples of my own block system, routine and planner below that inuse as a way to help trck my time! I hope they help, I hope you enjoyed the blog!

ME TIME FOR THE NEW YEAR!
Hi good morning welcome back to Classic Classics by Kandis.
How was your Christmas?
I hope you had a lovely, quiet, peaceful family, loving time, with the slowness of what this year had brought whether we wanted it or not, I had stsrtes looking forward to having a quiet family Christmas.
The way that I seen it coming Christmas morning was all the joy and excitement in Christmas magic is still there with all the littles.
I have to believe that having a 2020 Christmas the way that it was laid out, with actually not a bad thing!
All of a sudden restrictions got put into place and nobody was allowed at the house, there was no extra people to come and no big holiday traditions or parties happening!
But, when I think about it Christmas is still all about just having the family around.
The joy I seen was just have the children wake up, they still have the excitement in their eyes and joy in their hearts!
There is so much that was simplified but made even greater with what was happening still.
All of a sudden, there wasn’t as much pressure in this much chaos to go into Christmas this year!
What better for Christmas morning then to get up and have coffee and just watch the children have excitement over the gifts that are under the tree.
So, as 2021 shows up and if covid is still here, with how things are still going we don’t know what 2021 is going to bring!
I thought to end 2020 and the start 2021, what a better way than to just calm down and try to have some me time and family time!
To wake up on Christmas morning and to realize with covid not a whole lot changed just some a little!
Yes, there was no gatherings, no main Christmas traditions, however, Christmas still came Santa still came, coffee still tastes delicious Christmas morning, and still having a Christmas supper!
We may not have all of her loved ones around us at the Christmas table, or around the Christmas tree!
But, our loved ones are doing the same thing they are sitting at their their kitchen table, are hanging around their Christmas tree!
With that, this is a way that we can still stay connected! It’s like when you were little and you hear about being told to look up at the moon or the stars when you miss somebody and know that when they look at the stars that you were both looking at the same one and that is how you can be connected!
With that all I can tell my kids is it’s not going to be forever our family will be around our Christmas tree and the dinner table again!
For this year as hard as it was in the beginning I am thankful that I got to take that time to spend with just my family!
I mean my main squad if you will the ones that are always there for me, always with me!
So, long story short I guess what I want to take out of the 2020 year is that no matter what the ones that we are stuck with the ones that we are always with is the true meaning of Christmas!
I’m hoping I can take some of this meaning and some of the slow dance with me into 2021. In hopes that this covid-19 go away or give us part of our life back, there are some aspects that I need or want to take out of this year!
I I’m looking forward probably almost more than other years, I am looking forward to finding my New Year’s word. Do you pick a new word for every year? My word lost her was believe, because you always just have to believe. Last year I started my year with the word believe as you have to believe that it happened for a reason, you have to believe that there is a way, you have to believe that it happened for a reason!
2020 was a really crazy year for everybody, and with how the year ended up rolling out because I had picked my word before 2020 hit right! I now believe even more but I picked the perfect word for 2020. I picked it for reasons in our life that I needed that word, and then even more stuff happened that made me happy to have my word be believe last year!
I look forward to sitting down and getting my new word, I do not do New Year’s resolutions to a degree. I try to have goals for myself the family the house and maybe some outside goals I try to keep my goals as realistic and simple and promising as I can!
This will be one of the blogs coming up soon after the New Year’s hit!
I wanted to take this time and to take this blog too wish all of you a very safe and merry Christmas.
I hope you had a wonderful year, I hope you have a magical Christmas!

Treats In The Kitchen
Hi good morning welcome back to Classic Classics By Kandis!
This week we had a busy week, and last week for that matter we had a busy week in the kitchen!
Last week I started doing my Christmas baking now, remember I was saying that because do the Covid I’m trying to not do as much baking, it’s not that I’m not doing as many as I am trying not to do as big of batches!
I always have my standard Christmas cookies that we tend to have in the house and I tend to do quite the variety however, this year I am not doing any cookie trays and not giving any out on my Facebook page!
This is some local Christmas fun at this time that I try to do online and one of the local winners get a dozen cookies from the cookies that I am making that week! However, with Covid I am not giving out any cookie trays this year so instead of making three or four batches of everything I am really only trying to do one or two batches of each cookies, but then I still have my tarts on top of that there is always a lot of goodies here at Christmas time!
I thought this week with the start of Christmas baking and my son’s birthday party last weekend, while his birthday we just had a birthday party at the house with us as we have a family of 6!
Every year I always make my kids birthday cakes this year was no different, this year he wanted a black forest cake the same that his dad had!
His dad always have a black forest cake it is a favourite kind of cake so, I thought I would use this week’s blog and share my recipes from the week!
I have a gingerbread cookie recipe, sugar cookie recipe, and a recipe for a black forest cake!
Do you do Christmas baking?
Are you still planning on doing Christmas baking?
Depending on what is going on that week I will try to just make my cookie dough and then during the spare times of the day or at the evening is when I will try to do the rolling and to bake them and possibly decorate, depending on the type of cookie!
What is your favourite kind of cookie for Christmas?
I have lots of favorite kinds of cookies that’s why I have lots of cookies in my house but, I have to say one of my favourite cookie is is the candy cane cookies that I make with my kids.

My mom used to make all the time when I was little I am making those cookies either later this week or next week!
Let me know in the comments down below if you would like that recipe also?
If you’re ready let’s get into the recipes!
Make sure you go ahead and like the blog if you enjoy the recipes that way I know that I can go ahead and make some more recipe blogs!
I tend to do a bit of baking I bake something usually every week unless it’s Christmas time and then I am baking more than one thing all week haha!
Let’s go ahead and start with the black forest cake.
BLACK FOREST CAKE
You will need :
- 1 2/3 cup of flour 1
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 2/3 cup of cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking soda
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 1/2 cups of Buttermilk
- 1/2 cup of shortening
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla.
Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees grease pan this’ll do a 13 by 9 pan or two round layer pans or 1 12 cup bundt pan.
Be all the ingredients together in a mixing bowl, scraping the sides. Beats on high for both 30 seconds then scrape the sides again!
Place into your pan and bake until a wooden pick comes out clean for an oblong pan bake for 35 to 40 minutes layers is 30 to 35 minutes in a bundt cake is 40 to 45 minutes like completely cool before adding frosting.

GINGERBREAD MEN
For the gingerbread man I used a recipe out of my book called The Ultimate cookie book! I got this years ago as a Christmas present for my mother-in-law and it has a lot of go to cookie recipes! I have to say they made a little better Ginger Snap cookies then they did to try to roll out to make gingerbread cookies! The gingerbread men turned out okay but they flattened a bit more than what I would usually do. The nice thing about that this year is that the cookies are only for the house so they really didn’t need to be perfect this year because I know none of my kids are going to complain about the cookies.
You will need:
- 1/3 cup of butter softened
- 1/3 cup shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup of packed light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda
- 1 teaspoon of ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup of light molasses… I use dark it worked out fine I assume it’s just kind of more of the taste that it changes
- 2 tablespoons of coffee liqueur strong coffee or milk
- 2 1/4 cups of flour.
In large mixing bowl beat your butter and shortening together for about 30 seconds as your sugar, brown sugar, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, and Nutmeg. Keep beating scraping the sides of occasionally. Then you can beat them in the egg, molasses, and the coffee or milk whichever one you were using! Beat as much flour in as you can with the mixer if you have to finish mixing flour in by hand then do it that way! My KitchenAid mixer made it all no problem.
Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees F you can lightly Grease the cookie sheet, roll out your cookies or scoop them depending on how you were going to make them! Place some on your cookie sheet and bake for between 6 to 8 minutes until the edges are light brown!
Let them stand on the cookie sheet for a couple minutes, after they’re done before you put them on to a cooling rack to finish cooling completely before storing or decorating.

Sugar cookies
Sugar cookies will make roughly three dozen cookies!
You will need:
- 2/3 cups of butter softened
- 3/4 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp of milk
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- 2 cups of flour.
You want to chill the dough into the fridge for at least 30 minutes if not longer, pull out let sit for a little bit until you can work with the dough and then you can start to roll and cut .

Pre-heat your oven to 375 degrees F bake for between 6 & 8 minutes depending on how thick your cookie is until the edges are nice and golden brown!

Let’s sit for a minute or two before transferring onto a cookie sheet like completely cool before decorating and store.

Well, that was the first week of my Christmas baking of course with my kids birthday cake, it’s only some Christmas cookies!
I do have some more that I’ve been working on make sure you get this blog a thumbs up if you enjoyed the recipes so I can go ahead and do another recipe blog as I continued my Christmas baking.
