POWER HOUR!

Hi good morning, welcome back to Classy Classics By Kandis!

How are you this week?

I thought I would come on for this week and talk about the power of good Power Hour! It has been getting so much nicer here, the sun is shining the snow is melting and the mud is coming out!

I love this time of year because I get to bust out of her house right away, it’s been a long winter here with the littles it’s always longer tho right!

But, I thought that this week would be a good week to talk about just trying to get a good Power Hour in when you’re busy through the day! It can be hard because stay at home mom it feels like I should just be cleaning all the time! But, then in reality at the end of the day for me point of doing a whole bunch of cleaning right before we come stomping into the house from playing outside!

So, let’s talk about routine I’ve been trying to get into to keep my house okay while we are outside playing in the puddles!

How much do you think you can get them in an hour? I can get most of my basic’s done if I really pushed hard for an hour!

So, this last week what I have been trying to enjoy doing as we will get whatever organizing done first thing in the morning, get the house picked up, lunch figure it out hopefully something really easy and then we usually try to go outside for an hour before lunch!

Now this seems fine and it is we have been doing this two if not three times in a day! It doesn’t get dark here until right around 8 p.m. now which makes it really nice to try to have more outside time!

So, for my typical Power Hour I will have stuff at the door for us when we come in, everybody’s stuff that gets hung up or into the dryer dependant, and then we come in and get going!

I find as long as I have most of my deep cleaning and stuff done then my Power Hour I can usually get the housewipe down the dishes done the floors swept and spot mopped!

I recently got some new cleaning stuff and I’m hoping we’ll keep my house tidy faster and longer so, we’ll see!

What kind of quick and easy cleaning products do you guys have, I don’t need for Solutions because I make my own with vinegar but I mean for speed cleaning?

I recently just got the Swiffer vac, and actually got a new steam mop! I am so excited over the steam mop and I’m hoping that it makes it easier to keep the house cleaner!

So I’m trying to make it so that lately I’m not cleaning all day got the basic cleaning I’m trying to focus on some major decluttering and deep cleaning!

What do you try to do when you have power hour to get your house done?

Have you ever done a power hour?

They are literally one of the best time saving house keeping waves of a busy mom! I’m trying to be less busy and being more there for my children for the play and fun, but, why do they need to eat so much!

However, there’s nothing better than waking up the next morning to a clean house and so this is where I strive to have my evening routine as strong as I can!

I will leave some links below from some blogs about some of the old routines, because, when in doubt follow a routine and you will have so much extra time!

STARTING SEEDS!

Good morning welcome back to another blog on Classy Classics By Kandis!

How was your week last week?

Did you have a good Valentine’s Day?

Did you get a chance to read thevalentine’s blog? I’ll link it here!

VALENTINE’S DAY FUN

You know it’s funny because I was cleaning up today they found a couple presents for my daughter under my desk so I guess she gets extra presents this weekend!

I think she will be excited about it haha mom moment!

Can you believe it’s the end of February?

I got all my valentine’s decorations down, and am cleaning corners and dusting cobwebs! Have you started spring cleaning?

I’ll also leave that link here!

CLEANING CORNERS!

I think it went by really really fast oh, the point where I now have my seed starts out and I’m going to start couple of my plants!

I have my pictures of my seed starting at the bottom of the blog for you to look at how I started them this year oh, well some of my seeds this year!

In Saskatchewan I have to probably start stuff different than what are other provinces might!

With garden season sitting close to 12 weeks away there are a couple plants I need to get started now!

The seeds then I’m going to start this week my watermelon, brussel sprouts, peppers, banana peppers, broccoli, cauliflower and my cantaloupe!

This is also when you start celery I don’t know if I’m going to pre-start salary this year I have to actually finish points are my seeds first!

I actually just found a new way to organize my seeds I seen it on a garden group on Facebook!

It was using an old photo album and you know I have one that is not in you so I think I’m going to try! I will of course but it in a post when I try! I do have a cute seed container I got from the dollar store, that works great right now!

I really look forward to our next season this year oh, it was a crazy year and I look forward to challenging myself to see what I can do for a garden again this year!

Last year my garden was crazy fast put in, it was challenging to keep up with it last year I did it and it turned out pretty good, but this year I am excited about getting at the garden and seeing just how great it can be this year!

One of the blogs from the other garden years!

Growing A Garden!

I have a year that I have gardened in the spot now, so there’s definitely some things that I know that I didn’t know and some things that I would like to try that I didn’t get a chance last year!

Ideally when I look at the calendar I would like to have my garden ready to go by May long usually it’s the end of may!

I only say the end of me because it’s been years since we’ve actually been able to get a garden in May long!

They used to put gardens in my May long all the time and the weather is be changing so much through the last 10 years that it’s easier try to get a garden in that early anymore, so I do try to give myself a little bit of wiggle room and so I don’t get as ancy when garden season comes so I tell myself by the end of may!

HOW TO START SEEDS INDOORS:

The first thing you have to do is figure out what you were going to start your seeds in!

I start my seeds in egg cartons! They are put in fruit containers that act like a little greenhouse and then they just get transplanted with the egg carton still right into a bigger pot and then from that pot it goes into the ground! This is so I’m only actually transplanting those small little roots once!

I do have a heated starter that I got for my birthday last year, and with this I don’t put eggshells in it because it just has the black plastic holders! These are just dirt, that will get transferred straight into pots!

Another thing that I like to do when starting seeds is when you are putting their seeds in I always try to mix some hair and egg shells!

This round didn’t get any eggshells because I didn’t actually have any eggshell set aside for some reason, but I have some going now so that I can have egg shells from when I do my other seeds and when I do my transplanting to my bigger pots!

The hair I know sounds weird but, the protein in the hair makes it great for seeds! I have some hair from my boys hair cut last year that I just bagged and put into my garden box! You do want to try to have un died hair so there is no toxins going into the soil and seeds!

WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR SEEDLINGS!

What do you do with your seedlings after you have all of these plants going?

After a couple weeks when your sprouts are beginning to get ready to start transplanting, I will start thinning them out only strong seedlings can stay, and then maybe get transplanted into next bigger size pots!

This is where you start getting a lot of stuff right now is when you don’t have these little squares you have tons of pot’s with plants!

I will use any window sill that I have, actually just moved a desk into my youngest kids room so that I can use the top of the desk in front of the window!

In my house if there’s a place that sunlight hits that’s where a plant goes! It’s hard because none of our plants in Saskatchewan can even start going out for another 2 1/2 months!

So if you live in Saskatchewan or someplace really cold make sure you are only starting plants that you have room for and make sure that you remember that you can spread out your starting of seeds!

So, something’s get started 12 weeks early something’s get started 8 weeks early most things only get started 6 to 4 weeks early!

My point so make sure you sketch out your plans and make sure you have the time frame but you have to space and don’t overdo it! Trust me it’s really easy to start them but, then all of a sudden you look around and you have a hundred plants into trying to find room for!

This actually happens a lot easier than what one would think it happens to me every year you think I would learn by now!

That is how I am starting my seeds this year!

Are you starting seeds this year?

Do you have a big garden?

When do you start your garden?

Gardens are so much fun they are definitely worth it in the end with they are definitely so much work!
