The Garden and How Its Growing

When growing up the garden was always there. My mom always had a garden, if you had the room you grew a garden! That was how it was.

We learnt never to say we were board, especially when mom was in the garden!
You were not going to be board long, she made us help with the gross potato beatles!

To this day I remember how gross they were and I am oh so thankful that I do not have them! I think it was the kind of potatoes that she grew.

I remember getting into trouble for my best friend and me eating all her peas, or chewing up the green onions cause it made out spit green! Haha oh the memories in the garden.

Those memories have changed a little as I am the one planning, planting, weeding and pulling, prepping and so on. With this said I could not imagine not having a garden. It’s a lot of work, but the outcome can be so great. The years have changed and out weather is not the same…. by know means.

It has almost been freezing here already and it’s August. With the last couple days of August here, it is time to start getting some out, and prepping for the end of the year. I had a couple picks already, with hopes of another good round.

However, it has been a pretty wonky year for the garden, and my time has not been quite there with out secret mission on the last big push now. I thought I would take you along thought the garden this year and share what I have got, and what I am doing with them, to help get us through the winter!
Do you garden?
What grows great for you?
What seems to just not grow?
Let me know I love a good garden talk!

So the weather is not changing and it is time to get stuff out. When I had started the blog, as I ran a week behind.

Last couple weeks I have been picking lots of peas and beans out of the garden! Radishes did good this year, these I plant with my carrots as radishes are the first things up and our of the garden it does not interfere with the carrots growing. I will share how the carrots did on facebook when it comes time to get them out!

With picking them we got about 3 grocery bags of them. I also picked my one big row of green onions, I pick them, twist down the top after cutting the grown onion off, this allows the onion bulb to continue to grow after. I slice the green onions and dry them for winter use in cooking!

Cabbage I’m hoping to get some they did really good however the bugs tend to get at it. You can peel the layers off, till you get to where they didn’t get. Beware they go to the base tho and tend to wreck the whole head of cabbage really fast!

Cucumbers did not do good this year, they just didn’t come up good, and with how the summer went, I did not try to replant them.

Broccoli and cauliflower did not survive the crazy weather.
Beets I am hoping are good, there are some thing that stay in the ground till the end, as the leaves can frost and they beet will be ok, so those stay for now, same with the carrots. I will let you know how they did when the time comes!

Brussels sprouts did ok, they stockes got bent, these can also stay, they say Brussels sprouts taste better after the first frost, so I always leave those till the end, but just as the cabbage the worms love it and can take a whole plant down really fast. I will have to see if they survived this year.

Peppers are doing good, they will be picked soon and placed in a box to ripen up, you can do the same with tomatoes. Pick them when the weather is getting cold and they will ripen inside!
Have you done this, to make sure they tomato makes it, and does not got hit by frost!

Then the melons, they are coming, this will just come down to is there enough growing time for them to make it worth it. They are blooming and growing, but with such a short growing year it gets hard, never mind almost freezing weather in August!

As for my potatoes for some reason I have issues with them! I actually assume I am not hilling the  enough, so next year I will try harder to get lots!
With how much room they take up, and I am lucky enough to have a farmer supply me with lots for the winter it’s ok that they are not always great. However I will figure out how to make them great, to get my own winter stash!

Now that is it September everything will be coming out and being prepped for the winter get months.
What do you do to safe your garden produce?
I will be sharing how I prep my vegetables on my Instagram under Kandis Blask and Facebook at classyclassicsbykandis!

Make sure to follow to see two it goes, what I do, and the different ways to do some!

I hope your garden and summer went amazing!

Tell me about it, on here or one of the social media pages!

I would love to hear and have a conversation with everyone one summer and garden fun!
Till next week have an awesome weekend and a week!
Have a topic you want to hear about, just let me know!
I would love the input and ideas!
Till next time happy harvesting!

Freezer Meals To The Rescue!👌Well That Was The Plan!!

Good morning and welcome to Classy Classic’s By Kandis! This past two weeks sure have been busy, with the not so nice August weather, trying to camp, while taking on a special secret mission it’s gotten busier then normal.

I have slipped on my meals and planning, while it really shows, I thought this would be the best time to eat down not only the fridge and pantry, but the freezers as well!

This week as it will be full steam ahead I thought I would share our meals being pulled from the freezer and either combined to make a meal or used as a meal! With being on the go it is mostly going to be suppers. There will some other meals, however breakfast and lunch are usually something pulled from the fridge or panrty.

I am down the two oldest for a couple more days, so it’s easy to feed the toddler.

So if your ready I’m ready let’s dive into this week’s meals, and what I can do from the lost world of the freezers! 😂❤

So lets start with good old monday! Masyn my toddler is on a dry cereal kick right now, so breakfast is taken care of lol. One morning we had Saskatoon berry waffles, from the freezer.

Anywho back to Monday. I had pulled a container of chilli out, put it into a pot of water up unthaw and off we went to work on our mission. This worked put great as we didn’t get home till after 6:00 pm!

Tuesday rolled around, as I was home that days, however not any slower I spent the day in the garden getting products picked. This turned into a busy day, with mommy stating to feel under the weather again ( I got a sinus infection/head cold) there was not much happening that evening. I decided to do chilli stuffed grilled cheese! We needed to use up the little left over chilli and it was the perfect quick and easy.

Sorry with no pictures as it got eaten faster and my brain power was slow lol.

Wednesday was a slower day as i was still under the weather, I had some garden stuff to get at to clean and prep, for drying and/ or bagged for the freezer. We had to run out and grab some stuff, so again we were not around till late. This one was a later night and not feeling good, and being the last nigth till the big kids got home we totally said screw it all and had…. Take out!!! Haha

This then leads to Thursday as I had some pork tenderloins to cut up and prep for the freezer from our local case lot sale, I thought how perfect and pork chops it is. So yes we had a much better supper that night, as all my kids were home again, we had pork chops, fries, (baby had potatoes), and some beans from the garden.

Then the last day Friday! We were in the city back to school shopping, so with nothing planned… again, it worked out, as the husband took the older kid’s to the camper for the night I had the little ones. So I made….. macaroni for the toddler. As he is soooooo emotionally tired these days I called it as a win. The baby had yummy left overs of his pork, and potatoes with beans, it was food enough for me. Haha.

It was a crazy week, that I’m still blurry of, and as you can tell forgetful as I don’t have much pictures of the meals.
However the week is over and I can say at least we ate haha.
It doesnt always matter if your meals are 100% perfect everyday.
Take the week and roll with it! Was it the best health week?
Haha absolutely not!
Did everyone have something to eat, and survived the week?

Why yes, yes we did. As I could of done better out of my hidden spots, life got crazy and I improvised!
Have you done this?
Do you get mom guilt from it?
I sure do sometimes but then I realize that it was only one week, and I can make it up next week.

It is all about balance some days, and making end meet, and knowing it’s ok, and it won’t be like that every week.
How did your week go?
Had awesome suppers, or pulled together to make it work?
Let me know either on here, or over on Facebook Classy Classic’s By Kandis. You can also see some adventures over on Instagram under Kandis Blask.

This summer sure had a twist in it, but more on summer adventure another day.

Back To School

Oh back to school! Back to school! It’s not even to prove that we are not fools! Haha good show… Oh boy anyways, hello and good morning welcome to Classy Classic’s By Kandis.

Can you believe it’s August already! I sure cannot, where did the time go, all those summer plans, and hot day as laying around catching a tan, and late night fires.

Now all of a sudden we are getting the kids to try on their clothes and out with the old and getting a list ready for the new. Looking over the supply list and mapping out the best way to get into the city for it all and then get out.

How long do you wait till you start getting their stuff ready?

We have filtered threw all the clothes and got a list started for supplies.
I try to have some going already, however this has proven to be a different summer!

I know I need to do the school supplies which we don’t need much, as our school does a program where you can order some or all and it will be ready and waiting for them on the first day of school! This is also why we don’t need much.

However I already warned the hubby by the time we are scheduled to do back to school shopping we may be required to hit a bigger center. This I mean a city like Saskatoon or Edmonton. This is just because the smaller cities which we live around may be greatly picked threw!

Now with the clothes gone through I would like to tell you about ebates!
This is a wonderful app ❤ you can shop on line, and get money back for your orders!👌 Not wowing enough how about you can order online and pick up in store and still get money back, or how about a way to shop in the store and use the app at the till and STILL get money back!
I will leave a referral link below for it. This is good for hundreds of stores, to choose from.
This way I now know that we can get what we need. Even if it is ordering online and heading into a big city it will help some of the craziness of shopping with 4 children.
Make sure you check it out, free to sign up with money back off the start.

What do you start with supplies or clothes?
Do you do both one stop?
This year I feel I’m going to have to do both things and both kids one city day!😥 Wish me luck on that one haha!

I have a feeling a lot of clothing more so will be went through and so as long as they have enough clothes left that they have not out grown, they will be fine for a couple weeks….. I hope!

Every summer I say I’m going to start bed time for back to school a week or two early and I never do.
This year I think is the year. It is always a no as who wants to get kids up for school hours when they are at home for the day.😂

However I do feel it would benefit them greatly this year. With being up anyways to get the hubby out the door so early, for physio it’s not taking away any sleep, just mind power lol.

Do you do bedtime and school hours early?
How early a week, two?
Let me know here or on a media page.

Make sure you follow over on Facebook at Classy Classic’s By Kandis and over on Instagram under Kandis Blask.
I hope you have a great week, till next week’s blog, have fun making summer memories.
Summer break is coming to a end, let’s make the best of what is left!

Got It Done List!

Growing up I always remember my mother telling me ” there is not enough hours in the day!”
Growing up I would always think there is too many hours in the day!
Growing up I never understood why mothers said this!
Now that I am a mother I get it!

There is never enough hours in the day!
When you get to your to do list, and start crossing things off, the time sure flies!

Hi I’m Kandis and welcome to Classy Classic’s By Kandis!
This week’s blog is all about not tackling that to do list, but to sit back and look at your done list.

As a mother of 4 children ages 10 down to 6 months, there is always something needing to be done!
As busy as the kids keep me, add a husband, garden and house work, there is very little time in between for the little things in life.

There is always something and someone who needs me somewhere. There was a vlog from Kimmy on she’s in her apron where she talked about this done list, and with summer already coming to the end ( well before schools in), I thought I would share it with you!

Some days I kill myself getting that list done, other days I drag on and beat myself up with not getting enough done. There really is no win in my mind lol.

This list can be done at the end of a day, week month or season!
Let your mind rest as you see just what you accomplished, it will be so much more then you think!
Let’s give it a try yes!
Little self help will go along way on some days.
When you need a pat on the back after a long lazy day it can help pick you up, remind yourself that it’s ok to take a day off now and then, because even when you think you got nothing done, you can reassure yourself you still did what you feel “needed” to be done.

So let’s look at my done list on a day that I felt I did nothing! With a mama “rest” day I still got:

  • Beds made
  • Workout done
  • Breakfast made
  • Kids taken care of…. all day play, food, drinks, baths, bed
  • Dishes done so many dishes all the time….ps I don’t have a dishwasher
  • Supper made
  • Laundry downstairs and sorted
  • Night routine done look for my routine blog for more on this! I also plan on making a new blog on my routines!
  • Time in the garden
  • Of coarse coffee time

Evan with the what I remember doing is more then I would ever imagine I did on a no motivation day!

So as you can see just because that to do list isn’t completely done, you will always be doing something!

Don’t forget doing nothing is sometimes more then you think!

I find my routines help on days like this. My basics will still get done, and the in between can wait.

Have you sat down and thought about what a done list. It will help ease your mind, and anxiety on the off days.
Don’t feel bad about taking a day, to just sit and chill, reflect, and regain the strength and brain power to keep on keeping on.

I had someone very smart reassure me, it is ok to take the time. Would you forget to charge your phone when it dies, or are you gunna charge it.

Just as our bodies we need some chill, researching time. When in doubt take a day to sit, plan, bake, sleep, be old fashioned like me and paint your nails. 🤣

What ever you do don’t let guilt take over a rest day, take it as a look what I actually did day!

Give it a try what is on your done list. Way more then you give yourself credit for, I bet you will surprise yourself on what you actually accomplished without knowing you did.
Have you been stretched, not sure what you have left!
Try a done list and go to bed with a great feeling. You need some time just as the toddler needs a rest!😉

I hope you enjoyed this blog if so let me know!
Make sure you hit the follow button on the blog to stay updated on the mom talks here.

Hope to hear from all of you on these pages. Think a friend would like the blog, or social media pages I would love them to join! Share away, the more the better!

Till next week’s blog have a great week, and take time for you with the power of the done list!

Love when there is a reason for coffee! What better then relaxing with one!

Remember what better way to relax and recharge then admiring the flowers, take this time stop and smell the flowers!

Road Food!

Mom I’m hungry! Mom I’m thirsty! Mom they won’t share! Mom they drank it all! Mom Mom Mom!

It doesn’t seem to matter where you are or what they are doing the name mom gets thrown around like a frisbee at a dog park always going in circles!

Then to make everyone happy, but keep everything even and fair is almost as easy as trying to go to the bathroom by your self! Hahaha.

Kids are always needing something, and trying to get fast food when your out and about gets pricey! We can drop $60.00 no problem to feed everyone doing fast food!

That is crazy, you know what I could purchase and make from a grocery store more than a burger and fries that’s for sure!

Hi I’m  Kandis I am a stay at home mom for the last 10 years, with 4 children now and I am no stranger in snack attacks!

With summer break here and we are on the road oh so much I thought I would share some tips and tricks I have picked up along the way to pack some food for in the car to save time and money!

Where to start, this year I have a couple things up my sleeve to make things even easier on me.

I have some paper clip together bowls that I got from a dollar store, and I have some baseball hotdog holders also from the dollar store.
These allow it to be easier to hand out food, vs throwing it to them.

There is also their goody bags that each child gets and is located in their drive time bag!
These are snacks that are prepped and divided the night before.
Depending on how long we are done for depends on what is in the bag.
Usually there will always be friut, veggies, sandwich, treat and a drink. They also of coarse have a water bottle they take.

Then I keep the bought goodies or more favored goodes closer to me that would get handed out in the containers.
This will save so much in money, fighting and continued mom I’m hungry  mom I’m thirsty, mom, mom, mom!

How do you handle food on long car rides?
Do you pack stuff, or use it as a special lunch time?
Let me know!

With having a packed lunch located in their drive time bag the kids know that they can eat it as fast or slow as they wish, however when the food is gone in the drive time bag, that’s it for on your own food.

Hope you enjoyed this blog let me know if you liked ito, as I have more on the road tips and tricks!

It’s Already Packed!

Hi and good morning welcome to Classy Classic’s By Kandis! I am excited to have you here today for this new blog!
For those who don’t know me I’m Kandis a stay at home mom and wife! I have been married for 11 years this summer and have 4 wonderful energetic children ranging from the ages of 10 to 6 months old!

There is always something to do, something to pack or prep. With summer break on we tend to be the family that will at random times decide to go somewhere off to the lake, or a drive or take off the next day to I dunno some city for some appointment or meeting or task!

This means packing all the time, or be prepared for that spir of the moment decision. With 4 kiddos there is lots that needs to be remembered.

With the older ones they are capable of taking care of most of their stuff…. or you would think so haha. There is always something that is forgotten, or shoved somewhere that can not be located.

There is diapers, wipes, food, drinks, stuff to do in the van, etc.
With all the “stuff” it so easy to forget.

So let’s start with don’t forget to hit that follow button for all the upcoming blogs this 2019 summer has in store.
For more day to day fun and ideas follow me on Instagram under Kandis Blask or over on Facebook Classy Classic’s By Kandis.

Now then, let’s get started on this week’s blog! I find it can be easier on my mind and emotions for that matter to be a step ahead haha, or at least try for it.
When it comes to having so much as a nessesety to take what I can have already packed and ready to go the better!

This is items like the diaper bag, this stays in the van, as it will not freeze.
Couple little toys stay for the toddler, a pair of shoes and the snuggly for the baby is always located in there also right now.

As far as the big kids go I’m working on getting baskets for in the car under the seats that will hold some car entertainment but till then, they pack a drive time bag for themselves.
This way they picked what they would like for that trip at the time.

I always have some napkins in the van, with folding party bowls, a couple plastic utensils for monitoring snacks.
I recently purchased a car vaccuum which I’m more excited to try then one should be lol.

Along with a blanket or 2, bug spray, collapsible reusable bags.
These are all things that are always in there so I don’t have to think about them.

With summer break going a little different my beach bag and summer adventure bag is not done yet, however when it gets loaded I’ll keep you posted.

Quick talk tho this would include items such as towels, extra clothes, first aid items, some change, wipes and a couple cheap toys. Just a good go to adventure bag.
More about that on the other pages in the near future.

What do you keep packed in your vehicle for the summer holiday fun! Let me know in the comments below or on one of the social media pages.

Stay tuned for more on the go summer ideas coming this summer!

Snack Attack!

Have you ever wondered where all the food goes! How do the kids eat so much?

Why do prices go up in the summer for snacks and drinks?
Do they really need to eat every 10 minutes, and how did $100 of snacks disappear?

Hi there and welcome to Classy Classic’s By Kandis, we are going to talk about feeding those kids through the summer break!
As a mom of 4 kids we go through a lot of food here, like a lot of food. I have a couple tricks up my sleeve to make those snacks and back yard picnics go smooth as you juggle everyday life along with summer fun.

I have make a schedule at my house to make sure the kids are fed and watered but, still eat healthy and not just eats the expensive snacks that don’t fill them up for more then 5 minutes.

I have a rule that if its in a wrapper say gold fish packs, fruit by the foot, granola bars etc.. they are car treats and not to be eaten at home!
Summer is so fast paste the last thing you want to worry about is cooking 3 meals a day, plus snacks and treats.

The first thing I will say is freezer meals are a life saver in the summer. With so many options you can go to any back yard bbq and already be prepared for it.

Some of my meals I am hoping to prep as I should of stated already but havnt lol is…. egg wraps, waffles, pizza bites, burgers, twice baked potatoes, taco meat, spaghetti bake, perogies, chilli, muffins, cookie dough logs, rice crispy and brownies.
Look g
These are some ideas that I’m hoping to get into my freezer, to have on hand for any thing that summer may throw my way!

The schedule that I have is made out so the kids are still eating every couple hours, however I can know that it is not out of boardness, and they are eating healthy.

I have times so that the kids won’t be eating right before a meal, they are not gone all day, and they have that little sit and rest periods, even just 5 minutes.😂 Let’s start shall we?

As everyday breakfast this is harder to time but usually between 7:00 and 8:30 would be a safe bet! Yes?
The first snack is set for 10-10:30, lunch around noon.
Afternoon snack is set around 3 to 4 they get an hour to be flexible for play time and naps for the little one.
Then supper between 6:00 and 7:00 pm, snack or treat at 8:00 pm with the last bedtime snack not past 10 pm for movie time.

I aim to have the big kids in bed around 10:00pm. Now let’s look at what they get?

Their morning snack is fruit, veggies and or dairy.
Afternoon snack is fruit, veggies and a pantry snack.
The8 pm snack is fruit with a treat of the day this is where the freezer treats come in handy so they are not going to the store.
Then the late movie bedtime snack for the big kids could be say popcorn or something light.

This way I can prep a big thing of fruit and veggies for them to tackle over the day, sweets are limited and my rule also is if it’s in a wrapper it’s not for at home.

The wrapper goods that tend to run more money… for some reason or another are for on the road or away fun, make day, hiking, park fun etc!
So there you have it!

This is how I tackle summer eating, and ensure they are eating more healthy and less sugar on those hot days.

Let me know if you liked this blog.
I have fun posts coming this summer that I hope we can share our ways to beat summer boredom eating.
What do you do for food in the summer?
Do you have certain snacks?
Do you do a daily snack bucket for the kid’s?
This is where each kid gets a basket and gets filled each morning, it’s for the day and is up to them how fast they eat it all!
I would love to hear how you roll with snacks!

Till next blog when we tackle more summer fun, have a fun, healthy eating day!

No more mom I’m board!

Do you remember when you were a kid and summer was all you thought about? Comparing summer plans with with your friends, making plans, day dreaming of late nights and fun in the sun!
When you came out of the day dream summer was over already and your mom was packing your school bag to head back already!
Summers have always been a fun, busy time. I imagine kids these days feel the same, however now that I’m not the kid and the mom, I understand more of why my mom did certain things in the summer.

Hi everyone and welcome back to another blog here on Classy Classic’s By Kandis. I am a stay at home mom of 4 wonderful children full of more energy then the dang energizer bunny I tell ya.
With all of this energy they sure get “board” a lot in the summer! Boy oh boy, I thought I heard mom I’m board a lot with them in school, get the  home for 24hrs a day, and you better have some stuff up the sleeve.

With how quick summer flys by, and having appointments in the city on average of twice a week this summer will sure be a different one. I am putting my ideas together to try to keep everyone happy this year. Children and husband for that matter!😂

I have a couple, ideas to share that I hope strike some ideas for you! With everyone wanting to do something, but seems lime never the same it can get hard to keep everyone happy.

The first thing that I am starting with is the routines. Let’s talk summer routines!

I have this set up as there is to be no tv until at least 10am. This might get pushed a little later ro 11:00am.
Each routine should only take roughly 30-45 minutes depending on which time of day we are at.

Mornings are used to wake up the mind afternoon is to rest a little and evening is to clean up and relax! Mornings always seem to come so early in this house lol. I also still wake up or try to before the house wakes up.
However the kids routine starts around 7am and ends at roughly 10 pm ( for the older ones). Let’s go through the routines and I’ll share how I try to keep a summer as smooth and fun as I can.

As the kids are always hungry we start with breakfast, then the morning routine easy, eat, clear your dishes, wash up, make beds, get dressed, brush teeth.
Basic get ready, then they can do their exercises if they are board already, this is not quite ready but it is not much…. stay tuned for that.
There is a 10-10:30 Snack.

The afternoon is a quick tidy up, 15 min of math, reading, working in our adventure book for writing. This is at least 2-3 sentences a day or a paragraph a week.
With a snack between 3-4pm.

The evening is their zone cleaning, shower or rinse at least, clean the grubby feet up lol. Get ready for bed, there is a 8-9 pm snack for the 3 kiddos and a snack for the older kid’s while they are watching a movie or tv chilling for sleep!

So there you have it, my summer schedule for the kids while on summer break.
None of it is hard, long or cruel haha.
I hope this has helped motivate you for surving summer.
Don’t forget to take time for memories and smelling the flowers as before you know it they will be back at school, and we will be back in doors!

Happy summer prep and have a great week.
With lots of summer fun don’t forget to hit that follow button for all the upcoming blogs also follow me on Instagram under Kandis Blask and on Facebook at classyclassicsbykandis!
Till next time I hope to hear from you in any comment section on the social media and share away.

Let’s get mama’s together so we can help each other grow and take on all the challenges motherhood has in store!

There is a printable going up on the Facebook page for routines to check out, also any ideas for a printable I would love to hear!

End Of Year Teacher Gifts On A Budget!

Can you believe the school year is done! It seems like they were getting their stuff ready and mama is following them around taking pictures of them in their new class room and at their desk. Outfits were being picked and lunches where being prepped! Now we are counting down the last hand full of school days, and getting end of year gifts done!

Hi I’m Kandis and welcome to Classy Classic’s By Kandis, this week’s blog is for those gifts that get sent, that we tend to forget about till the last minute!
I always think there is so much time to do end of year thank you gifts.
10 months, the kid’s are in school! That’s a long time to be with a teacher!

I will show you what I have set up this year for the teachers! This is a fun way to personalize a gift on a budget at that. There is so many things that you can do, from gift cards to hand picked fun baskets.
What do you do for  teahers?
Do you give gifts?
What is the price range you deal with?
I have 3 teachers that we are giving to this year with a little something for the secretary because I love her, I could not imagine doing her job I’ll tell ya!

With these gifts there is a mix of bought gifts and personal thought items. These cost me under $10 each!
I think they are going to be so cute! I will also point out that it is all women that I am gifting to this year so it was fun and could all be the same, one thought 3 gifts!
That’s how I like it, the less brain power involved the better some days haha!

Let’s dive into this shall we and start getting the goodies ready. I must also point out that some of it has to wait till next week as I’m baking pies!
Before you get ancy over this thought stay with me as we work through the items and why I would do this lol.
First is the baking that I am sending.
I am one of those moms that make or try to make everything from scratch, I also use to and sometimes run a small baking business out of my kitchen, so sending pies is not out of the ordinary or intimidating to me. You could buy the supplies to do this or just get some goodies and repackage them, also I am also sending dry mixes!
This will be in zip lock bags with how to instructions along with a list of required ingredeints, not much more then a dry mix from the store would require!
Dry mixes this year are to make:

  • pancakes
  • chocolate chip cookies
  • beer bread done on the barbecue.

The only ingredients are any liquid, egg, oil or beer required!
Then of coarse a apple pie, as I still think of apples for the teachers, lol call me old fashion I guess there haha.

Now, for the purchased items, things changed as I got lost in the dollar tree with so many fun ideas popping into my mind. Ok, well just the cup changed from a wine cup to a big multipurpose cup, which could still be used for wine….. or any drink haha!

Also I bought baking sheets and bread pans along with pot holders instead of baking utensils.
So let’s look I think it’s all perfect, for what I was going for.

There is a big mixing bowl, cookie sheet and a bread pan for each with a set of pot holders, new coffee cup, the cute big cup, the cutest coconut cup ever, and a small scented candle.
The dry mixes will be labeled and put into the mixing bowl.
The bowl will be the holder to everything other then the pie.
Turning it into a cute diy baking, relax fun in the sun basket!
Adding tissue paper and plastic wrap will make it look high end for a low budget!

Making a diy basket I find to be the easiest just head to a dollar tree and have FUN!

Surviving SUMMER!

Good morning and welcome back to Classy Classic’s By Kandis. As a stay at home mom of 4 children of the ages of 10,8,2 and 5 months I have a kid in each stage right now,😥 and let me tell you something. As the babies were growing I look back on some days now and think I wish I would of been more patient about school days.

When the first two were younger as there’s a bit of a age gap in between the first two and the second 2, I remember I was excited to be getting that time when they were in school, to have that time to get stuff done, they would be great going to school and for some reason in my mind school days were going to be this great rainbow gummy bear feelings.

Well….. As the 2 have been in school for a could years now as they will be heading into grades 4 and 5, I now think of how nice it was before we had this crazy school schedule. Way to want your cake and eat it to lol.
School days get hard as once they start that is what it is then for many years to come.

In Saskatchewan the kids have 2 months for summer break. 6 weeks, just over 60 days as they are out at the end of June and head back beginning of September.
There 6 weeks to do all that fun summer stuff camping, vacations, cleaning, and back to school prepping. There is not much time to fit it all in. On the other hand that is 6 weeks of the kids home everyday, asking for tv, snacks, to go and run around.
Either way you look at it, and if you are like me you will have all these thoughts many times and which one is the better way to look at the picture.

These days fly by, and some crawl by as it is a long time, and a short time all at once.

So do I have a point to this haha and yes I do. Kid’s are put into a routine for 10 months of they year, and then are pulled and required to keep up, calm down, and go with the flow but be busy. How is this possible to do everything at once and not get overwhelmed. They want to do it all, but tend to want to be in front of a screen!
So I have a couple points to help try to round out this square of a circle summer break!

As summer break is coming up and fast, there is as of next week 8 days of school, as I don’t count the weekends on our count down.
Kid’s get crazy about getting up and going, and less excited about another day at school in those desks. Lessons are less, and structure is loosened. Field trips are happening and books are being sent home one by one.

I try to start my summer planning in the beginning of June, so I have time to tweak the schedule and routines. Why? Why make a schedule, for summer break. It’s just that a break! All I can say is HAHAHAHA a break! Like taking kids on vacation is a “break”! Your break time is now when you get the kids to bed!
Which is what feels like never as bedtimes are not as strong. I have found that a good summer schedule, make those days at home more smooth, then when you are out on “vacation” or camping it can be more of just that a “vacation” and the family bond can be stronger.

Anywho the point to this blog is just that finding a way to make it through a short but fast long 2 months.

The first things I do is crop a summer routine. Morning, afternoon and evening. Sounds pointless and even cruel right? However I do this for a couple reasons.

There is no point of staying up late then waking up to early to run to the t.v.🤦‍♀️ The tv is not going any where and those kids need their sleep. So a good morning routine is good. There is no tv till after 10 am in the summer. They have their get up and ready routine instead of dead tired zombie eye tv watching.

The afternoon one is cause it gets hot, and they get crabby so I use this as a chill time where they need to take a little bit of a break and relax. This is where some light homework comes in.

Then the evening is so they are not running around till who know when, also so my house does not stay completely wrecked, and they actually get cleaned up before putting their gross dirt feet into bed. This also ensured that they are calming down and resting.

So a good summer schedule here is a must. I also crop a small exercise list of by stuff for the kids to burn the morning buzz off, also a snack schedule as they will not eat me out of house and home in matter of minutes haha. There is also a family summer bucket list that we do to a degree, but many will print off one and then as the summer goes on it can be easier to fill the board days!
Do you have a summer bucket list? What is on it?
We have a goal of many picnics, and possibly swimming lessons this year!
So all, the little things put together adds up to a big one.
Go ahead and set a structure for summer, it will make the days smooth, and less I’m board I want to play video games and watch 10 hours of tv. Haha.

I will be sharing all of these in the next couple weeks.
Our routines and snack schedule.
Make sure you stay tuned for these coming soon!
What are your plans or goals for the summer?
