No more mom I’m board!

Do you remember when you were a kid and summer was all you thought about? Comparing summer plans with with your friends, making plans, day dreaming of late nights and fun in the sun!
When you came out of the day dream summer was over already and your mom was packing your school bag to head back already!
Summers have always been a fun, busy time. I imagine kids these days feel the same, however now that I’m not the kid and the mom, I understand more of why my mom did certain things in the summer.

Hi everyone and welcome back to another blog here on Classy Classic’s By Kandis. I am a stay at home mom of 4 wonderful children full of more energy then the dang energizer bunny I tell ya.
With all of this energy they sure get “board” a lot in the summer! Boy oh boy, I thought I heard mom I’m board a lot with them in school, get the  home for 24hrs a day, and you better have some stuff up the sleeve.

With how quick summer flys by, and having appointments in the city on average of twice a week this summer will sure be a different one. I am putting my ideas together to try to keep everyone happy this year. Children and husband for that matter!😂

I have a couple, ideas to share that I hope strike some ideas for you! With everyone wanting to do something, but seems lime never the same it can get hard to keep everyone happy.

The first thing that I am starting with is the routines. Let’s talk summer routines!

I have this set up as there is to be no tv until at least 10am. This might get pushed a little later ro 11:00am.
Each routine should only take roughly 30-45 minutes depending on which time of day we are at.

Mornings are used to wake up the mind afternoon is to rest a little and evening is to clean up and relax! Mornings always seem to come so early in this house lol. I also still wake up or try to before the house wakes up.
However the kids routine starts around 7am and ends at roughly 10 pm ( for the older ones). Let’s go through the routines and I’ll share how I try to keep a summer as smooth and fun as I can.

As the kids are always hungry we start with breakfast, then the morning routine easy, eat, clear your dishes, wash up, make beds, get dressed, brush teeth.
Basic get ready, then they can do their exercises if they are board already, this is not quite ready but it is not much…. stay tuned for that.
There is a 10-10:30 Snack.

The afternoon is a quick tidy up, 15 min of math, reading, working in our adventure book for writing. This is at least 2-3 sentences a day or a paragraph a week.
With a snack between 3-4pm.

The evening is their zone cleaning, shower or rinse at least, clean the grubby feet up lol. Get ready for bed, there is a 8-9 pm snack for the 3 kiddos and a snack for the older kid’s while they are watching a movie or tv chilling for sleep!

So there you have it, my summer schedule for the kids while on summer break.
None of it is hard, long or cruel haha.
I hope this has helped motivate you for surving summer.
Don’t forget to take time for memories and smelling the flowers as before you know it they will be back at school, and we will be back in doors!

Happy summer prep and have a great week.

End Of Year Teacher Gifts On A Budget!

Can you believe the school year is done! It seems like they were getting their stuff ready and mama is following them around taking pictures of them in their new class room and at their desk. Outfits were being picked and lunches where being prepped! Now we are counting down the last hand full of school days, and getting end of year gifts done!

Hi I’m Kandis and welcome to Classy Classic’s By Kandis, this week’s blog is for those gifts that get sent, that we tend to forget about till the last minute!
I always think there is so much time to do end of year thank you gifts.
10 months, the kid’s are in school! That’s a long time to be with a teacher!

I will show you what I have set up this year for the teachers! This is a fun way to personalize a gift on a budget at that. There is so many things that you can do, from gift cards to hand picked fun baskets.
What do you do for  teahers?
Do you give gifts?
What is the price range you deal with?
I have 3 teachers that we are giving to this year with a little something for the secretary because I love her, I could not imagine doing her job I’ll tell ya!

With these gifts there is a mix of bought gifts and personal thought items. These cost me under $10 each!
I think they are going to be so cute! I will also point out that it is all women that I am gifting to this year so it was fun and could all be the same, one thought 3 gifts!
That’s how I like it, the less brain power involved the better some days haha!

Let’s dive into this shall we and start getting the goodies ready. I must also point out that some of it has to wait till next week as I’m baking pies!
Before you get ancy over this thought stay with me as we work through the items and why I would do this lol.
First is the baking that I am sending.
I am one of those moms that make or try to make everything from scratch, I also use to and sometimes run a small baking business out of my kitchen, so sending pies is not out of the ordinary or intimidating to me. You could buy the supplies to do this or just get some goodies and repackage them, also I am also sending dry mixes!
This will be in zip lock bags with how to instructions along with a list of required ingredeints, not much more then a dry mix from the store would require!
Dry mixes this year are to make:

  • pancakes
  • chocolate chip cookies
  • beer bread done on the barbecue.

The only ingredients are any liquid, egg, oil or beer required!
Then of coarse a apple pie, as I still think of apples for the teachers, lol call me old fashion I guess there haha.

Now, for the purchased items, things changed as I got lost in the dollar tree with so many fun ideas popping into my mind. Ok, well just the cup changed from a wine cup to a big multipurpose cup, which could still be used for wine….. or any drink haha!

Also I bought baking sheets and bread pans along with pot holders instead of baking utensils.
So let’s look I think it’s all perfect, for what I was going for.

There is a big mixing bowl, cookie sheet and a bread pan for each with a set of pot holders, new coffee cup, the cute big cup, the cutest coconut cup ever, and a small scented candle.
The dry mixes will be labeled and put into the mixing bowl.
The bowl will be the holder to everything other then the pie.
Turning it into a cute diy baking, relax fun in the sun basket!
Adding tissue paper and plastic wrap will make it look high end for a low budget!

Making a diy basket I find to be the easiest just head to a dollar tree and have FUN!

What is you idea’s for the teachers?

Cutest cup😁

Yummy smelling candles

We all need coffee!☕

How awesome are the giant cups!

Each get a different pot holder!

Getting to together!

The bags will get filled with mixes, add some tissue paper and clear wrap!👌👍👏

Surviving SUMMER!

Good morning and welcome back to Classy Classic’s By Kandis. As a stay at home mom of 4 children of the ages of 10,8,2 and 5 months I have a kid in each stage right now,😥 and let me tell you something. As the babies were growing I look back on some days now and think I wish I would of been more patient about school days.

When the first two were younger as there’s a bit of a age gap in between the first two and the second 2, I remember I was excited to be getting that time when they were in school, to have that time to get stuff done, they would be great going to school and for some reason in my mind school days were going to be this great rainbow gummy bear feelings.

Well….. As the 2 have been in school for a could years now as they will be heading into grades 4 and 5, I now think of how nice it was before we had this crazy school schedule. Way to want your cake and eat it to lol.
School days get hard as once they start that is what it is then for many years to come.

In Saskatchewan the kids have 2 months for summer break. 6 weeks, just over 60 days as they are out at the end of June and head back beginning of September.
There 6 weeks to do all that fun summer stuff camping, vacations, cleaning, and back to school prepping. There is not much time to fit it all in. On the other hand that is 6 weeks of the kids home everyday, asking for tv, snacks, to go and run around.
Either way you look at it, and if you are like me you will have all these thoughts many times and which one is the better way to look at the picture.

These days fly by, and some crawl by as it is a long time, and a short time all at once.

So do I have a point to this haha and yes I do. Kid’s are put into a routine for 10 months of they year, and then are pulled and required to keep up, calm down, and go with the flow but be busy. How is this possible to do everything at once and not get overwhelmed. They want to do it all, but tend to want to be in front of a screen!
So I have a couple points to help try to round out this square of a circle summer break!

As summer break is coming up and fast, there is as of next week 8 days of school, as I don’t count the weekends on our count down.
Kid’s get crazy about getting up and going, and less excited about another day at school in those desks. Lessons are less, and structure is loosened. Field trips are happening and books are being sent home one by one.

I try to start my summer planning in the beginning of June, so I have time to tweak the schedule and routines. Why? Why make a schedule, for summer break. It’s just that a break! All I can say is HAHAHAHA a break! Like taking kids on vacation is a “break”! Your break time is now when you get the kids to bed!
Which is what feels like never as bedtimes are not as strong. I have found that a good summer schedule, make those days at home more smooth, then when you are out on “vacation” or camping it can be more of just that a “vacation” and the family bond can be stronger.

Anywho the point to this blog is just that finding a way to make it through a short but fast long 2 months.

The first things I do is crop a summer routine. Morning, afternoon and evening. Sounds pointless and even cruel right? However I do this for a couple reasons.

There is no point of staying up late then waking up to early to run to the t.v.🤦‍♀️ The tv is not going any where and those kids need their sleep. So a good morning routine is good. There is no tv till after 10 am in the summer. They have their get up and ready routine instead of dead tired zombie eye tv watching.

The afternoon one is cause it gets hot, and they get crabby so I use this as a chill time where they need to take a little bit of a break and relax. This is where some light homework comes in.

Then the evening is so they are not running around till who know when, also so my house does not stay completely wrecked, and they actually get cleaned up before putting their gross dirt feet into bed. This also ensured that they are calming down and resting.

So a good summer schedule here is a must. I also crop a small exercise list of by stuff for the kids to burn the morning buzz off, also a snack schedule as they will not eat me out of house and home in matter of minutes haha. There is also a family summer bucket list that we do to a degree, but many will print off one and then as the summer goes on it can be easier to fill the board days!
Do you have a summer bucket list? What is on it?
We have a goal of many picnics, and possibly swimming lessons this year!
So all, the little things put together adds up to a big one.
Go ahead and set a structure for summer, it will make the days smooth, and less I’m board I want to play video games and watch 10 hours of tv. Haha.

I will be sharing all of these in the next couple weeks.
Our routines and snack schedule.
Make sure you stay tuned for these coming soon!
What are your plans or goals for the summer?
It can be hard to mix work with play!

June Mind Dump!

Hi everyone and welcome to this weeks blog on Classy Classic’s By Kandis!
This blog let me tell you is a little bit of a hot mess haha like me this week has been just go!

Don’t think, don’t over plan, just go! Sounds crazy right? I agree and I feel the effects of it I tell you.
With the count down to last day of school on, schedules are winding down for activities and other priorities are arising, no wonder my coffee intake has increased haha.

I made a decision to make a mind dump for the month. Yap the whole month!
This will be helpful for the big tasks that will require short spirts over multiple days.
I will of course be using my weekly planner, however with what feels like repeatedly rewriting the same tasks over and over, and feeling like I am accomplishing nothing….even tho as the basic chores still get done, to break the big tasks down into little ones over the week’s, might be more motivating.

That is where the June brain dump came into play, and I like it lol.
Just having that over veiw of bigger tasks on one movable sheet is helpful, instead of big tasks and the breakdown all in the planner gets old!
When I get stuck on what to do or feel things are not getting done, I can see how much closer I am to completing the whole task.
With so many new things to take care of in the short summer months, I need to cross off bigger tasks that can only be done or easier to do in these months.

Have you tried a mind dump?
Do you like them?
What are your big goals for the month?
I am hoping to get many goals done along with summer freezer meals, and the yard, and some more neglected corners done, and the summer routine written out!

I’m planning on pushing through in June, getting as much as I can done, in hopes for a smooth relaxing July!

Be on the lookout for the summer schedule and tips for making it through the summer months with all the kids home!
Do you do summer schedules or just go with it?

Make sure you are following me for lots of day to day posts and fun talks on Facebook under classyclassicsbykandis and Instagram under Kandis Blask! Hope to talk on one of these about all the fun summer can have.
Any topics or ideas you want to talk, ask about or plan for let me know in the comments down below or on one of the pages.
Till next blog have a great week, and stay planning!

Mama Been Busy!

Good morning and welcome back to this weeks blog at Classy Classic’s By Kandis! How has your week been? Sun is shining and birds are chirping, and don’t forget the mosquitoes are biting!

This week has been so busy, I realize I say this every week however this week has been more the busy. I have been pushing extra hard to get my May tasks completed! I am proud to say that I have completed them! What were these tasks, that has been following me all month?

I got all my garden planted and tomatoe and pepper plant which are located out side my garden! I also have completely cleaned out our camper. I had moved everything and wiped top to bottom out. I also pulled all the dishes and washed them. Then I got everything put back in place.
Let’s start with the camper talk.

I had used a vinegar and water solution for the outside of the cupboards and bleach water in the cupboards. I broke this up into stages throughout the month. The dishes were pulled out and put into a sled to be washed outside. 😂 All pillows and blankets were pulled and washed also. Big nagging task that I couldn’t be happier to seen the end of.

Now for my garden.❤

I love my garden and it has deffently taken years of learning to get it were it is, with so much more to learn! How ever let me tell you what is planted this year.
It is a more basic garden compared to other years!
I planted this year… carrots, radishes, peas, beans, cucumber, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, brussels sprouts, beets, onions, lettuce, potatoes, squash, celery, cantaloupe, watermelon, pumkin, tomatoes and peppers.
My tomatoes are located in a raised garden, my pepper plants are in tires along the garden and some by the house! The cantaloupe and watermelon is in tires this year along the garden also!

I am needing to by a couple plants from my local green house as I lost time with the husbands accident which was at the time that I usually start more seeds inside. So I will just purchase them this year!

I completely flipped my garden this year also in hopes for a good year as last year was not a strong garden year, and my freezer showed it.

With these tasks being done there was still house chores, and children to be taken care of.
This was a busy month with some hard tasks that sure took up some time, but now that they are done, they are just that done!
Do you garden?
What do you plant?
Is there anything that you struggle with to grow?
I have more issues with carrots and potatoes!
Got a garden question, ask me in the comments down below or on Facebook under classyclassicsbykandis.

I will be sharing garden tips there as the summer goes on. I have always been on the fight with slugs in my garden, so I have some tricks that help keep them away!
Let me know what garden topics you would like to talk about! I would love to have a chat about it! Weeds are like laundry always there for when you need them haha.

Did I Blink Again!

Have you ever looked at the clock and wonder what the heck happened? I sure have almost every day I think lol, I say this lots as my days swirl together. Days go blurry and time just flies out the door with my brain I think!

Hi I’m Kandis and welcome to Classy Classic’s By Kandis, as a stay at home  mom of 4 children and a wife to an amazing man for over 10 years, I am not sure why every year I am surprised when summer hours come into play and I’m thrown out of my routine!

I have been sharing my routines this month as I try to revamp them for summer. As the kids are almost done school, things are getting ready to change fast for a couple months, so I don’t get behind I like to do my routines up until school is done and my summer schedule comes I to play. I will be sharing that next month.

However with this routine blog I will be focusing in my times from roughly 4:pm-8:00 pm. In reality it’s usually 4pm or 5 pm and then to 8pm or 9pm. I say it this way because bedtime happens between 8pm and 9pm. It’s a basic time also where not a whole lot occurs so there is not a whole lot of wiggle room.

So 4:00pm kids are home should have their after school stuff taken care of, we finish what was not. If there is activities that run late, then I will have supper ready for 5:00 So we can eat and get ready to go this would be on ball nights.

On a at home night it’s different let’s use this routine talk for a home night.
So prepping supper, and the kids  homework. I will try to have then prep their lunch if not done. We will try to go out side or the big kids will.
One kid will usually need to have a shower before supper, we eat on a good day which is what we are thinking is happening ok lol so we eat around 6:00-6:30pm.

Then I will do the dishes up, and wipe down the kitchen. The older kids then have their zone for the night and they do their pick up after supper. This is when I will start getting the little ones ready for bed. Clean up usually runs about 7:00-8:00, this is so much longer then it should take them to do but…… lol.

So Masyn who’s 2 is in bed around 8:30 If he gets a later night big kids are getting ready to climb into bed around 9:00pm.
As I said not a whole lot happens at this time, seedling get taking into a truck for the night, obviously only during certain seasons lol.
So it’s a wonky time I actually say that this time starting at 5pm is the witching hour at our house and it sure is lol.

So I will say sorry for such a blurry routine but any thing can happen at this time but, we will revisit. So, as long as supper is ready, kids are done homework started showers if not gone for baseball, house picked up and kids zones are at least nicer then before, and kids in bed. This is a good evening to me!

So that is my last bigger routine, for the evening as I just have a hand full of stuff I do before I’m done for the night. That is a different blog talk!
What do you do in the late afternoon, evening time?
Let me know in the comments down below or over on Facebook under Classy Classic’s By Kandis, you can also follow me on Instagram under Kandis Blask for day to day fun and ideas.
Until next blog I hope you are revamping your routines with me!
A good routine can make for a very smooth day!
Have a stellar week and I will have a new blog up next week, so make sure you hit that follow button for more chats!

What An Afternoon!

Hi and good morning welcome back, it’s a great day here on Classy Classic’s By Kandis.
This week’s blog is for afternoon routine. This can be split up between many hours or a couple, it depends on how your afternoons works for you!
When it comes to the afternoon in my house I split it up, my first block is from 1:00 pm-4:00 pm then from 4pm-8pm.
So let’s look at the first from 1:00-4:00 shall we!
My afternoon routine is set up this way because at 1pm is the latest that Masyn my toddler is up, by 1 it’s nap time. If my stars line up then both little ones will nap at this time. So if both kids are napping at the same time I have a couple options here, depending on what season It is and what is on the to do list I will then try to do either my workout or specific cleaning that can only really be done with no children. Example for the month of May is a complete camper clean out.
So my workouts then tend to not happen as I try to work there instead, and if or when I can. Depending also how long the little ones sleep, will depend on what happens.
As you can see my afternoon has little room, I will try to prep or start what I might need to for supper, or get stuff lined up, packed and situated for any after school activities there might be!
Kids get home and they have their routine, not much unpack school bag, snack, homework and get ready to go if there is activities. I try to get them to pack their lunches for the next day also if there is time.
I find these afternoon routines more easy to keep and maintain to help the day out more in the winter months, as we are confined to inside.
So let’s recap and smooth this out, Yes? Little one or if lucky both go for naps. Work out or cleaning project as there is very little chances to do both in this season of life. Supper prep, activities prepped and packed for, kids home from school, and their stuff done.
This will run to the 4:00 If not past depending on what is happening that day. I should point out I am constantly swapping laundry, as I only try to use the clothes line in the summer my last load needs to be out on the line by between 3 and 4pm.
So any time in between I will fold laundry if it’s ready. Those little tasks that are always there are my spare minute fillers. It takes only a short time to fold laundry, pick up a little, wipe the table etc.
With these short hours what I have left to try to accomplish is a fast past if I’m trying to be productive haha.
There you have it what I try to have my early afternoon look like, I need to work on remembering if this does not line up it is ok.
Summer is short and I need to enjoy what I can when I can, because soon we will be inside again and can do what I need to in the house.
This is hard for me as I tend to feel disappointed if everything does not get done. Which yes I realize is possible, I can’t do everything in the house and outside all in one day.
How does your afternoon go? Chill and relax, certain goals, or balls to the wall?
Let me know how you do early afternoon! I would love to hear some ideas to smooth out the afternoon as summer is coming, and we will be outside instead.
Lets help each other to be able to enjoy summer to the fullest this year.
Till next blog have a great afternoon, know matter what your afternoon may entail!
Afternoon routine

Cleaning time… always

Prep supper is I can also any extra for the freezer!

If I’m lucky to be in the right season for workouts lol hopefully more in the winter

So Much To Do!!

Hi and welcome to the new blog.
Let me first say welcome if you are new don’t forget to hit that follow button for all the upcoming blogs.
Welcome back if you are a follower!
Before I get into this week’s blog on my routine for late morning,
I wanted to take this time to bring your attention to something. Did you notice that the page name has changed?

Instead of It’s A Mom Life it is now Classy Classic’s By Kandis! This has a purpose, as I have added a new exciting chapter in my life.
I now can say that I’m a certified organizer, and super excited about this!
With all that said I will leave other spots to follow me on for more day to day fun. Now with that out of the way let’s get on with the routine blog!

As my first routine ends around 9 am, it deffently can ran past that, with 2 little ones at home I need to remind myself to be flexible.
So let’s say I got my hand full of stuff done, kids off to school and the stars lined up that morning, I then set off to my next “shift” of the morning this is roughly 9-11:30am.

This is cause from 11:30- about 1 is making lunch, tiding up and getting little ones ready for naps so, around 9 I take a coffee break… of coarse, and get the small ones content.

Looking over my day again I then will start with my zone I’m cleaning that day. I try to have the house broke up into zones to tackle every day of the week, this does not usually include daily chores.

For example Mondays I deep clean the bathroom, and Friday I deep clean the floors. If all goes good from 9-10:30 or so is zone cleaning, house pick up, swapping and maybe folding laundry all of this this usually is more till around 11am.
If there is any thing needing to be make like baby wipes or fabric softener I will try to get it out of the way before noon.

When about 11:30 rolled around it’s time to make lunch.
So this is the rest of my morning.

In between taking care of the kiddos. I aim to get one zone tidied, and if lucky one place decluttered, this should take an hour or less to do both. I find that my couple chores before 9 am important if I’m having a crazy day.

Let me know how you like the morning routine blogs?
Do you have a morning routine? Do you break up your morning or have a full morning.

I started breaking up my morning as I have a very busy morning and this helps me not go to hard first thing, and be tired and cranky by noon haha.

Give it a try morning can be hard, make a small list to get your day off to a great start! Till next blog, when I vamp up my afternoon routine have a smooth day!

You can also follow me on Instagram under @kandisblask and on Facebook Classy Classic’s By Kandis 😁

Afternoon list more for after school

Always tiding up the living room

Baby wipes a double batch

Some of the day the bathroom

So gross

Deep cleaned not much decluttering today

Kitchen clean up before naps.. also made bread that morning

Another week with routines!

Good morning everyone and welcome to Its A Mom Life. I am Kandis, a stay at home mom and wife of 4 kiddos and been married for almost 11 years now!
With every child added and seasons changing there is always something new that is occurring.
Some things have to stay the same to have it all happen. This is usually the chores around the house.
Always there, usually the same, as people need to eat, and wear clean clothes…. I’ve been told anyways haha🤣.
So with this week’s blog I thought I would share my routines or some.
Do you have routines that help you stay up with everything?
Do you have one routine or like me multiple routines broken up through out the day?

This week’s blog I thought I would share my morning routine! I have a morning, afternoon and evening routine.
As things are changing in this house, I thought it would be a good week to look over these routines and see what is working and what is not.
As a new season comes and new after school activities starting! This means late night’s for 2 nights of the week!
Why not use this time to make things easier before late summer nights occur and I’m really thrown out of balance.

Let’s start with the morning yes. I am a early riser, with being a stay at ho,e mom for 10 years, I have had years of getting up early.
My morning can make or break my day sometimes. I truly love and even require my coffee mommy time in the a.m.
With my morning routine it is me time until the kids start moving usually, summer is different as I water all the flower beds usually first thing in the morning.
However we are not there yet so my morning routine is not for summer hours yet lol.
Do you get up early in the summer?
Whats your favorite thing about early mornings in the summer?

I love getting everything watered for the day and sitting back with a coffee and my plannner, and getting mentally prepared for the day!
So morning time, I try to be up by 6:30, depending on when the baby gets up to nurse depends if it’s earlier.

My 3 main routines are in plastic covers hung up on my pantry.
This way as things get done it can be crossed off with a dry erase marker, then wiped clean every night to start again in the morning.

With my morning routine it has 2 sides one is the kids list, and then my side.
I typically try to have my morning routine done for around 9:00.
So let’s look at it all shall we!
My morning is usually broke up from 6:30 am to 9:00 am, so I will just go over my side as the kids is mostly just for getting ready for school.

I will wake up, wash my face, I will just enjoy my coffee and planner time until it’s time to get the kids moving.
With breakfast going, we eat, then tidy kitchen, wipe table, sweep, dishes etc, swap laundry, tidy the bathroom, get dressed, make the beds, the little ones first as I can’t always make my bed first thing, pull out supper if  it done, i try to fill my diffuser in the living room, and then have a break with my coffee while I plan more of the day.
This is what I am for as it helps to get it out of the way for my next “block” time.

Do you have a morning routine?

Let’s Spruce Up!

Hi and good morning welcome to Its A Mom Life.
Happy May. It’s A new month already again!
This month I thought what better time to look over the schedule and routines then before summer comes in for the year! This month I thought I would take you along as I revamp and spruce up my routines!
Do you have routines, one big one over the day, or like me smaller ones split up throughtout your day? Let me know about your routines.
Remember everyone will have different lay outs for how they make it through the day.
So it’s your ready I am over ready for getting  my routines back in order.
This will make summer routine hopefully a easy transition, as lots change but only for a short time.
I am taking you through my 3 main routines for sure. My morning routine, afternoon routine and evening routine.
I have many routines but these I wanted to focus on first. Then we will see how the other routines fall into place.
Let’s do this first blog for mornings are coming soon.
Hope to help motivate you, in finding a nice balance in chores, chaos and fun. Till next blog have a great productive day!
