PLAYDOUGH!

Hi good morning, can you believe that March is almost gone! I’ve been crawling in the corners, dusting ceilings, planting seeds and getting ready for summer!

How have you been this week?

As I was trying to get everything done with the two toddlers at home I had to make some phone calls the other day and I’ve realized I have nothing for them to do when I’m super busy.

My kids have always been fans of Play-Doh, I am not a big fan of store-bought play do I have so many reasons that I could say why I prefer homemade over the store! My mom always made homemade playdough I think that might have a lot to do with it too, and I actually have the recipe that she always made playdough with so I know it’s easy and it’s a really good go to recipe!

So I thought the other morning that I would quickly whip some up, and I thought that maybe I should share the recipe because what Mom could not use 10 minutes of quiet time while their kids are playing with some Play-Doh.

Another thing that I absolutely love about it is that I know it there’s nothing toxic and so when is a two-year-old puts in his mouth I can just laugh at the face that he makes!

Have you ever made homemade Play-Doh before?

I do not use peanut butter in mine, I’ve never tried it have you tried peanut butter play doh let me know what you think about peanut butter playdough!

This Play-Doh takes roughly 10-15 minutes to make, it takes about half an hour to have a cool down enough to have kids play with it. Ideally you would like to have a cool down a little more but you do what you got to do right!

This recipe is super easy and it really doesn’t require many ingredients or much time!

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups hot water
  • 1 cup salt
  • 4 tsp cream of tartar
  • 4 Tbsp oil
  • food coloring
  1. Combine all ingredients into a saucepan.
  2. Heat to medium and stir all together.
  3. Keep stirring until it forms a ball, and you can hold it away from the pot
  4. Place on counter in knead for about 2 minutes until it’s sticks together and is smooth, and fun to play with! Flatten out and let cool, completely cool before storing into an airtight container, I use a Ziploc bag this works just as good and store until ready to play

We went with a light blue this time, I thought it’d be a cute colour to go with Easter! And there’s really only so many colours that I am going to create throwing it into a saucepan LOL.

That is how I tryed to get a little bit of quiet time here!

What is your go to distraction item?

I am happy I took that little time to make it, the littles play with it every day now!

Hope you have a great mommy quite minute day! There is very little time I a day for us to enjoy quite so, grab it when you can!
